George Soros Continues His Support Of Liberal Causes

George Soros is one of the most successful businessmen in America. Born in Hungary, he attended the London School of Economics, while supporting himself by working as a waiter and railway porter. George started his financial career working in a merchant bank before moving to New York and going to work on Wall Street. In 1969 he was able to open his hedge fund, with $12 million dollars, the fund eventually rebranded as the Quantum Fund. Soros, with the help of Stan Druckenmiller, was able to short the British pound in 1992 and make a huge profit, this risky currency trade earned him the reputation as the man who broke the Bank of England. Today George Soros continues to be an investment heavyweight; his Soros Fund Management is estimated to have assets of $30 billion. In 2017 he hired one of the most prominent women on Wall Street, Dawn Fitzpatrick, to manage his investment portfolio, a position held by only seven people since 2000.

George Soros is very interested in politics and has been a longtime supporter of liberal causes. He supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 as well as other Democratic candidates and causes. He is no friend of Donald Trump and is a frequent critic of him and his policies. Soros, according to Federal Election Commission records has donated over $25 million to Clinton and other liberal causes. He has known Hillary Clinton for over 25 years and was planning on attending his first political convention to see her accept the Democratic presidential nomination but had to cancel for business reasons. Close friends think George is more politically engaged today than they have seen in years and it is expected that involvement to increase in the months ahead. He is concerned about issues he has supported for years, including immigration reform, religious tolerance and the reform of our criminal justice system.
